An example correction, in biology

Your answer

Why doesn’t an antibiotic help with the flu?

Because the flu virus has become resistant to antibiotics.

Resistance is not the reason.

Antibiotics attack parts that only bacteria have, such as the cell wall and their ribosomes. The flu is caused by a virus, which has neither, so the drug never had anything to act on.

Antibiotics act on bacteria, not on viruses.

Antibacterial drugs act on structures specific to bacteria, such as the cell wall and the 70S ribosome. OpenStax, Microbiology, §14.3.

A correction you can inspect. See the second attempt.

The same works for any subject you study: history, law, economics, languages, programming, calculus.

Watch the study workflow unfold.

Start by creating a course, here Calculus I. Choose a chapter to see how course materials, planning and review connect.

Screen recording of a demo account. Waits are shortened and the tutor's writing is sped up. The tutor's answers in these clips are example text.

From an attempt to the next practice.

  1. Try a question

Bring your material and show your reasoning. Ask for an explanation or choose how much help to receive.

  2. Understand the correction

Inspect the step that needs attention, with sources and check records where available.

  3. Apply it again

Work through a related question, then return to the idea with the error notebook and review.

Sources, limits and your data.

Which subjects does it work for?

Any subject you have material for. Upload class notes, slides, a textbook chapter or past exams, and the tutor answers from them: biology, history, law, economics, languages, programming and more. For calculations, such as calculus, statistics or physics, it can also check the result with code. The method page explains what a check covers.

Can the tutor make mistakes?

Yes. Sources and tools help you inspect an answer, but do not certify every sentence. The method page explains the scope of checks.

What informs the method?

Roediger and Karpicke (2006) studied retrieval practice and delayed retention. FSRS estimates review intervals.

Why does NodeStudy ask for Google data?

Sign in with Google provides your name, email and profile photo to create and secure your account.

Google Calendar is optional. If connected, NodeStudy adds study sessions, exams and reviews and follows changes to those events. It also reads your other events to display them in the calendar and account for availability. Your events are never sent to an AI model or anyone else, and Google data is never used to train AI models. Disconnect at any time in Settings. Google data details.
