Terms of Service
Version 2026-09-27. These terms are available in English and Portuguese. The language of the interface does not determine your country or remove mandatory local protections, including applicable language and pre-contract information requirements.
1. What NodeStudy is
NodeStudy is an AI-powered study tutor. It teaches from grounded course material: a curated default library of public-domain and openly licensed works, plus the materials you choose to upload. Depending on your question, the tutor may use those materials, web sources, calculation tools, or model knowledge. A response is not necessarily retrieved from or supported by a source.
2. Your account
Who may use NodeStudy. You must be at least 13 years old to use NodeStudy. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the service. We do not check age at signup, so we rely on this statement; if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it and delete its data. A higher minimum age or additional guardian authorization required by your local law takes precedence. The minimum age stated here does not establish that you can validly contract or consent to every type of processing without assistance in every country.
You can try the tutor without an account: the app opens a visitor session in your browser, and each session allows a limited number of questions, with a limited number of sessions per network address per day. The numbers are shown in the app when you reach them and may change. A visitor's conversations stay in that browser; files attached to a visitor session are deleted within 24 hours unless you create an account and choose to keep them. We may refuse or end visitor sessions that abuse the service.
You need an account to upload materials to a course, keep courses, and save progress across devices. Keep your credentials private and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for your own use and for conduct attributable to you under applicable law; this does not transfer our security obligations or liability for service failures to you.
You may delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion is permanent and immediate: your uploads, vector indexes, conversations, flashcards, tasks, plans, and all other study data are erased (see the Privacy Policy for details and for any categories that may be retained longer).
3. Your uploads
- You must own the rights to anything you upload, or otherwise be legally authorized to use it for private study purposes. You confirm this at signup and on each upload.
- Your uploads are private to your account: they are never served to other users, never added to the shared default library, and never used to train AI models.
- So that we can actually serve you the material you upload, you grant NodeStudy a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence limited to what is technically necessary to host, convert, reproduce, index, retrieve and transmit it to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy, for the sole purpose of providing the service to you. This licence authorizes no other use, ends when you delete the content or the account, and does not change ownership: the material stays yours. It does not weaken the promise above — your uploads are still never used to train AI models.
- You are telling us you may share it. When you upload something, you confirm you hold the rights needed for us to process it for you, or that the material is public domain or openly licensed. This matters beyond copyright etiquette: our own agreements with the providers listed in the Privacy Policy place on us the duty to have the rights and permissions for everything we send them, and we can only have that duty if you had the rights first. If you are not sure you may share a file, do not upload it; ask about the material instead.
- We may remove content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights without prior notice. If you believe material hosted by NodeStudy infringes your rights, contact us at the address in section 11. We operate a notice-and-takedown process and terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
4. The default library
The built-in default library contains only public-domain, openly licensed (e.g. Creative Commons), or properly licensed works. Their original licenses continue to apply to that content; NodeStudy does not claim ownership of it.
5. AI-generated answers
The tutor's answers, images and diagrams are generated with AI and tools. They can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, even when they cite sources. Always verify important results against the cited source material. Citations are provided specifically to make independent verification possible.
NodeStudy is a study aid. It is not professional, medical, financial, or legal advice.
Health and clinical content. NodeStudy is an educational tool. It is not a medical device, it is not registered or notified with ANVISA (Brazil's health regulatory agency) or any other health authority as a medical device or as software as a medical device, and it is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, monitoring, prognosis or treatment of any person. Clinical cases, scores, formulas and calculations are there to help you learn, not to support decisions about a real patient: do not use them to diagnose, triage, prescribe, calculate a dose or otherwise manage anyone's care, including your own, and do not enter information that identifies a real patient. They do not replace clinical judgment, institutional protocols or the guidance of a qualified health professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (in Brazil, SAMU 192).
Who owns what. You keep what you write and upload. We claim no ownership of the answers the tutor produces for you, and you may use them for your studies and your work, subject to section 7 and to the licence of any source an answer quotes. Because students ask similar questions, another student may receive a similar answer, so we cannot promise an answer is unique to you and we grant no exclusive rights over it.
Feedback on answers. When you rate an answer or write a comment about it, we may use that rating and comment to find and fix weaknesses in the tutor. What we take from a rated answer is deliberately narrow, and the Privacy Policy says exactly what it is.
6. Paid plans and billing
NodeStudy may offer free and paid access under different commercial conditions. Before you purchase, the offer and checkout identify the seller, total price, currency, billing period, included features and usage, applicable restrictions and renewal conditions. These disclosed conditions form part of your agreement. Any recurring charges must be disclosed before purchase; subscriptions renew under the agreed conditions until cancelled.
Included AI usage is a processing allowance, not a guaranteed number of answers: consumption varies with the model, question, context and tools used. The app displays usage and applicable limits; separate rate and abuse-prevention limits may apply. A paid plan does not promise unlimited usage or error-free answers.
Special commercial conditions. We may offer differentiated or promotional conditions to eligible users, for limited periods or through selected channels. The applicable offer will clearly disclose eligibility, validity, limits, the duration and scope of any benefit, whether benefits can be combined, and the conditions that apply afterward, before purchase. These terms alone do not create an entitlement to an offer or its extension. Offers may be changed or ended for future purchases, without changing conditions already contracted or limiting statutory rights. Attempts to evade disclosed eligibility or usage restrictions are prohibited.
- Payments are handled by the provider identified at checkout, under the seller arrangement disclosed there. The Privacy Policy identifies the providers that receive billing data. NodeStudy does not store your payment card details.
- Withdrawal right (Brazil, CDC art. 49): for eligible distance contracts, you may withdraw within 7 calendar days, counted from signing or receipt of the product or service, as applicable. Amounts paid must be returned in full, without penalty, as required by law. You exercise this yourself in Settings → Billing: while the window is open, that screen shows the amount and the button, with no reason required, no condition on how much you used the service, and no need to reach anyone. The money returns through the payment method you paid with. An unequivocal statement in writing to support@nodestudy.com remains equally valid; you do not have to negotiate separately with the payment provider to exercise your rights against us.
- European Economic Area and United Kingdom: where the distance-contract rules apply, consumers generally have 14 days from conclusion of a service contract to withdraw without giving a reason. Starting to use the service or accepting these terms does not, by itself, waive that right. Any exception, early-performance request, proportionate charge or loss of withdrawal rights must satisfy the specific information, express-consent and acknowledgement requirements of applicable law; it is not imposed by this general clause. Mandatory rights concerning defective digital content or services remain separate and continue to apply.
- Other countries: mandatory local withdrawal, cancellation, renewal and refund rights apply where their legal conditions are met. The Brazilian period is not a worldwide maximum or a substitute for a longer or different local right.
- Recurring billing: recurring charges require your express, informed agreement to the disclosed renewal conditions before charging. Online subscriptions must have a straightforward online cancellation mechanism; a retention offer or survey must not obstruct cancellation. Any confirmation, reminder or notice required by applicable national or state law must be provided. Cancellation of future renewals is distinct from a request for a statutory refund.
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Billing. Access continues at the subscribed plan level until the end of the current paid period.
- If a payment fails, your account enters a grace period. During the grace period you retain access while our billing provider attempts to collect the outstanding amount. Access reverts to the free tier if collection is unsuccessful before the grace period expires.
- Changes to subscription prices, features or usage limits must respect contracted conditions and applicable law. Permitted changes affecting a future renewal will be explained in advance; any price increase requires at least 30 days' notice, with the option to cancel before it applies. Notice alone does not authorize an abusive unilateral change or reduce a benefit already bought. Where fresh agreement is required by law, we will request it.
Making a cancellation or withdrawal request. To stop future renewals, use Settings → Billing. To exercise the Brazilian seven-day right, the same screen carries it while the window is open: it names the amount and undoes the purchase directly. For any statutory right of withdrawal, an unequivocal statement is also sufficient; no particular wording or explanation is required. An optional example is: “I withdraw from my subscription contract entered into on [date], associated with [account email or order reference]. Please confirm receipt and process the refund due under applicable law.” Include only what is needed to locate the purchase, keep a copy, and do not send passwords or full payment-card details. This example is not an exclusive or mandatory form and does not replace any standard form required by local law. You can save the terms through the legal reader's download function.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use NodeStudy to:
- Violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
- Attempt to access, retrieve, or interfere with another user's data or session.
- Probe, reverse-engineer, overload, or attack the service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Upload content that is unlawful, harmful, or that you do not have the right to use.
- Redistribute the default library content beyond the scope of its original license.
- Use the service in a way that imposes an unreasonable or disproportionate load (for example, automated scripting designed to exhaust usage limits).
- Evade the visitor limits — for example, by opening sessions automatically, or by using multiple addresses or accounts to get around the per-session or per-address allowance.
- Present the tutor's answers as your own unaided work where the rules that apply to you — your school's, your university's, or an examiner's — do not allow it. NodeStudy is a study aid; meeting your own institution's academic-integrity rules is your responsibility.
- Try to make the tutor disregard its instructions or its safety limits, whether through crafted prompts, instructions hidden inside material you upload, or any other means. If you find a way to do this, please report it to the contact in section 11 rather than use it.
- Use the tutor's answers to train, fine-tune, or benchmark a competing AI model or service.
8. Suspension, termination, and discontinuation
When we may act. We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if you materially or repeatedly breach these terms, if the law requires it, or if the account's use puts other users, third parties, or the service at risk. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you the reason first and give you the chance to put it right. We may act without prior notice where that is necessary to stop ongoing harm, to comply with a legal requirement, or to protect the security of the service.
If you think we got it wrong. Write to the contact in section 11. We will review the decision and reply to you.
Leaving. You can stop using NodeStudy at any time, and delete your account from Settings.
If we discontinue the service. If we stop offering NodeStudy, or stop offering a paid plan, we will give reasonable advance notice through the service, leave you time to export your data, and refund the unused part of what you have already paid.
9. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
AI-generated content may contain errors, and interruptions may occur. These limitations do not exclude the service characteristics and commitments expressly offered to you, statutory guarantees, or remedies for defective service. Responsibility for any loss is determined under applicable law, including mandatory consumer and data-protection rules. Nothing in these terms waives rights to repair, replacement, refund, compensation or access to competent authorities where the law provides them. We do not impose a general contractual cap on compensation owed to consumers.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will publish the new version with a new version date and announce material changes through the service. If a material change requires your re-acceptance, we will ask for it before you continue using affected features. Your acceptance is recorded against the specific version you saw (version 2026-09-27).
11. Contact, governing law, and general terms
These terms are governed by Brazilian law, without excluding mandatory protections applicable to you in your jurisdiction. They do not impose exclusive jurisdiction, mandatory arbitration, or a waiver of access to consumer authorities or courts, including the court of your domicile where provided by law. For questions, support, data requests, and intellectual property notices, write to support@nodestudy.com. This contact is also the channel for privacy requests described in the Privacy Policy; it does not, by itself, identify an appointed data-protection officer or a local legal representative.
Third-party integrations. Google Calendar, GitHub, and your browser's push service are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies. Connecting one is your choice, you can disconnect it at any time in Settings, and we are not responsible for those services themselves.
Severability. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision straight away, we keep the right to enforce it later.
Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a successor of the NodeStudy business, and will say so through the service if that happens.
