An example of a correction
Illustrative example, written for this page. It is not a student's conversation or a call to the live tutor.
Illustrative conversation
“Enrollment rose 20% and then fell 20%, so it is back where it started.”
The two 20% changes apply to different bases: the second one is 20% of the number that had already risen.
1.2 × 0.8 = 0.96, which is 4% below the start
With 100 students the count goes to 120 and then to 96. What increase takes 96 back to 100?
The correction explains why the two changes do not cancel, shows the arithmetic with numbers and ends with a question.
Research: in a review of ten study techniques, practice testing was rated high utility and rereading low (Dunlosky and colleagues, 2013). The mock exam in the exam’s format is a test, and NodeStudy has not measured whether it has that effect.

How NodeStudy fits your preparation
Send the material for your exam: past papers, slides, problem sets and notes. The tutor answers from them and shows what it relied on: a citation opens the page of the file.
Set your exam date and the time you have each day. Sessions land on the calendar before the date, none longer than two hours unless you ask, and the plan is redone when your routine changes.
Sit mock exams in the format of your exam. The tutor copies the style of a past exam in your material, or asks the format when there is none. You answer one question at a time against the clock, and the correction comes after you hand it in.
The tutor builds flashcards from what you studied, and the review comes back on a spaced schedule.
When the question allows, the tutor checks the arithmetic with a symbolic algebra tool. What that check covers is on How it works.
NodeStudy is not affiliated with any exam board, university or school, and it brings no exam questions: the tutor works from the material you send. SAT, PSAT and AP are trademarks of the College Board, which is not affiliated with NodeStudy and does not endorse it.
